Internet Service Providers Agree To Remove Lewd Child Images From Servers
(AP) Two of the largest U.S. Internet providers have eliminated access to discussion groups that featured child pornography, New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo said Thursday.
AT&T, the nation's largest Internet service provider, and AOL, the third largest, also agreed to purge their servers of child porn Web sites.
Cuomo said Internet service providers can't drag their feet in protecting children "and instead must quickly purge child porn from their servers."

Groups calls sexually-explicit teen books in county library 'a scandal
A citizens anti-pornography group wants certain books in the St. Louis County Library's Teen section segregated from younger eyes and placed in the adult section.
However, the library director says a system is in place to review materials on the shelves.
Citizens Against Pornography (CAP) is an interfaith community organization that wants to alert the public to the dangers of pornography.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Motion Picture Association of America, booksellers, publishers and other media groups are urging Gov. Bob Taft to veto a bill updating Ohio's anti-pornography law. The groups say the bill is unconstitutional and they'll sue if Taft signs it.
House Bill 8 updates the portion of Ohio's sex-offense law dealing with materials that could be harmful to juveniles. It adds computer images to the list of materials that could be harmful.

DAYTON, Ohio — A federal judge late last week temporarily blocked enforcement of Ohio's new anti-pornography law, saying it is too broad and appears to violate the constitutional right of free speech.
U.S. District Court Judge Walter Rice on Aug. 2 issued a temporary restraining order at the request of attorneys for bookstores, newspapers and video software dealers.

WORTHINGTON, Ohio — An anti-pornography law that prosecutors say is aimed only at sexual predators could affect mainstream literature and movies, says a group that sued to overturn the measure yesterday, hours after Gov. Bob Taft signed it.
The law adds computer images to the list of possible ways to display sexually explicit material and other content deemed "harmful to juveniles." But opponents say the law is unconstitutional.

New York's Attorney General, Andrew Cuomo, has a history of using his position to threaten big companies into agreeing to take responsibility for something that isn't their responsibility. He did it when he got advertisers to pay fines because their ads showed up in adware -- without ever explaining what was actually illegal. And, now he's done it again in getting a bunch of ISPs (Verizon, Sprint and Time Warner) to agree to block a list of websites and newsgroups that are listed as being purveyors of child porn.
